I recently came back from a free and easy trip to Hong Kong a few days back. Thanks to the availability of the smartphone and digital apps, the trip was made much easier and more enjoyable. This post thus serves the purpose of sharing with you some of the apps that I have found useful in my trip. Without further ado, here are some recommended apps for a trip to Hong Kong.

Free AmazonGlobal Saver Shipping
If you didn’t know already, Amazon has started providing free shipping to Singapore and India. All you have to do is to have an order with items that are eligible for free shipping and hit the minimum total order of $125 (all currency in USD). This service Amazon provides is great for customers based in those countries (Singapore!). There are just some things that you cannot get locally and even if you can, the mark up on the products are simply too high.

Friday the 29th of November is the special day. 20 months gone just like that. “Make full use of the 20 monthsâ€. I definitely didn’t and I still don’t think I will even if I had the 20 months again. Now let’s be forward thinking, there are endless opportunities and troubles awaiting me.

DIY NAS – Seafile (Self-hosted Dropbox)
There are many ways to transfer files between your devices and your NAS. The most popular and obvious method is via FTP. There are other ways as well and one of them is via a software called Seafile. Seafile is similar to the likes of Dropbox where it focuses on syncing files between devices. By running Seafile on your NAS or server, you will be able to host your own Dropbox like service. There are many other free alternatives (ownCloud, Sparkleshare etc) as well but for this article we will be focusing solely on Seafile.
BatDad – Batman and Family
What happens when you take Christian Bale’s Batman voice, a father with a Batman mask, his children, wife, a smartphone and the discovery of Vine (software) and put them all together? You get several 7 seconds of absolute entertainment. Now not all clips seem very appropriate; especially those where he seemed to have scared the life and soul out of his loved ones (doesn’t seem staged). Other than that, he seems to be a loving father and really friendly as well. Must be weird though to have someone in your house constantly videoing selfies and speaking in such a voice.
Song about Chinese Food
From the creators of the smashing hit “Friday”, “Chinese Food” is another charts topper. Instead of the amazing Rebecca Black, they have a new child star in the name of Alison Gold. As a Chinese, this song makes me so happy and proud as the different delicacies of my race are honored and loved. Seriously, who would ever love Chinese food so much to the point that they start making a song about it? Alison Gold does (she sings about it), trust her. Continue reading
