Its Fruit Ninja, the movie. Many video games are getting some hollywood attention. One of the more recent and perhaps exciting talks are on the Assassin Creed movie. Oh yeah that does sounds fantastically awesome. Put that aside, we have some fruit slicing and ninja action going on here. Know Fruit Ninja? That mobile game where you destroy precious fruits to get points and how you should evade the bombs at all times? We now have a movie for it, a movie trailer at least. If you’ve not already notice, the trailer is just for fun, kicks and laughter. If you actually believed the trailer was true and that a movie is really coming up, don’t blame yourself. Its just that the people behind it are way awesome. Oh and if you don’t know what “Fruit Ninja” is, it is basically mobile (Android, iOS, Windows 7) game where you are supposed to “Swipe your finger across the screen to deliciously slash and splatter fruit like a true ninja warrior. Be careful of bombs – they are explosive to touch and will put a swift end to your juicy adventure!”

Anyways I didn’t find this the most convincing nor funny video of theirs. I had come across their various other trailers before but hadn’t find the time to post it. There was the Luigi’s Mansion trailer which was pretty darn good and the other one that I enjoyed more was: Planking the movie.

Maybe planking has already died down now but the trailer sure still have loads of entertainment value to it. I have to quote one of the lines in the trailer which makes perfect sense; no offence but “[planking] its fucking stupid”. That is my personal opinion, you have yours I have mine. Anyways the trailer:

Do feel free to check out their other videos as well @ SAXjewell

We have all sorts and kinds of gamers: pro gamers, competitive gamer, casual gamer, role playing gamers and so on. Today, we have an elite role playing arcade champion gamer. I’ve once been to my local arcade and witness someone who completely owned one of the shooting game. If I remembered correctly it was the game called Rambo or something like that. At one point he was talking on the phone and shooting with one hand. And as you expect, right before the enemy would appear fully he would have already shot them down. Amazing? Well, yes indeed unless you see this amazing gamer at work.

Role playing arcade gamer for the win? Too bad he ain’t fully dressed up (like the kid in the picture). His actions and timings are all so perfectly timed though, a pity he only have those gloves on. Man, I wonder how much time he has spent to memorize everything. But as what someone always tell me, if you want to do something, do it right and do it well. He sure took it to a whole new level.

p.s There’s no need to watch the entire video. As amusing and amazing as it is, all you need to watch is the beginning and the end. If you are really dying to see his awesome skills then watch a little of the middle section. No point spending 14 minutes on this when you can go think of the next game that you can practice to own like him.

Yet another live action adaptation of the extremely popular game Angry Birds. Yes it is official, Angry Birds is affecting our lives bit by bit. The world is flooded with things related to Angry Birds. We have birthday cakes, cushions, soft toys, casing designs and many many more. From the creators that made the hilarious parody of the iPhone 4G incident comes Angry Birds The Movie. Read on to watch the trailer of the action packed, emotional and dramatic blockbuster.

Well, I guess the trailer itself is that of a common blockbuster movie. The concept, well it is a movie based on Angry Birds yah? I mean what more can you get? Shooting birds at pigs, destroying the wooden structures, using the slingshot and all the different types of birds. Intense stuff eh? Tactical combat, moral dilemmas and so on. All the stuff you get from the game is adapted and made into a movie. I mean seriously? I don’t know whether to laugh or be amazed by how they use such a concept and actually make a trailer that is a tad bit serious and convincing.

Ah I know how to express my thoughts now! The trailer is seriously funny. See what I did there? Seriously, and funny? Seriously funny? Okay maybe not as smart or funny as what you’ve just saw but yeah, the video is awesome. Intelligent hilarious stuff from the same humorous and creative people again. Love their videos.

Hope this is something that will light up your disgusting Monday. 4 more days to the weekend people!

Defense of the Ancients (DotA) is an extremely popular custom map made using the Warcraft 3 engine. Yes, the Warcraft 3 engine and the game itself is old, very old but the custom map DotA lives on up till today. Widely popular and still is popular all around the world. You get competitions of global scale (i.e. World Cyber Games) and many other newer games being built on the concept that made DotA so addictive. There other games out there such as Heroes of Newerth, HoN, League of Legends, LoL and probably the upcoming DotA 2 (by Valve by the way) all based on heroes and those 3 lanes of awesomeness. Anyways like all popular games you expect to see insane modifications and external uses of them. We’ve got the Angry Birds comedy, Metal Gear Solid and Modern Warfare short parody films and so on. This time around we have a DotA movie, a movie of the life of TerrorBlade, a hero within the game.

Yes you might need to have a little background knowledge of the game and how it is played to understand some parts of the movie. For example the lanes and stuff are stuff present within the game. Some of the powers present are also part of the original heroes’ abilities that can be used within a match itself. The characters and their relationships etc are all also established within the game itself. For example them being brothers are also part of the story within the game. Such information would be great to have but isn’t a requirement to enjoy the movie. It is an hour long but it should be worthwhile especially for fans of the game.

The movie as a whole isn’t that of epic entertainment but is fun to watch. Story isn’t of highest creativity or depth but does enough to keep the movie interesting and entertaining. Voice overs aren’t the best quality but yeah does the job well enough I supposed. What is most amazing about the movie however, is the effort and time spent into capturing all the different scenes and acts. I mean seriously? How do you even do all of that? The camera work, special effects are all really impressive in my opinion.

I will not be surprised if this inspired you to start a match or 2 with one of those heroes that are mentioned within the movie. I mean it is kind of like how you often reenact a particular super hero moment that you just watched in the movies a while ago. I mean at least I do, I often imagine myself in some of those extraordinary situations with those extraordinary powers and just dream about using them. Same thing, reenact the battles or the feelings of the characters as you play them within a match.

On a side note, I do love the heroes Magina and Terrorblade in the game. I mean both of them are awesome heroes to use. And if you’re wondering, I’ve quit playing the game about 3 years ago. I ain’t that good anyways.

I stumbled upon the video at some forums and the first thing that came into my mind after looking at the title was: “Hey isn’t Mark Leung that guy that made some RPG parody video or something?” Yup, I went into the channel, looked at his past videos and indeed, it is the guy back in 2006 that made the rather popular “College Saga”. Really awesome humorous stuff he have there. I was surprised to actually see that he now have a full fledged RPG game released, should be extremely funny as well. Anyways, here it is, the game trailer for his RPG game called: “Mark Leung: Revenge of the Bitch”, read on for the video.

Hilarious? Yeah, there is a demo up already at his site so be sure to check it out and if you’re really interested you can actually purchase the game. Should provide some laughter and fun through this Christmas season. Some background information of the game taken off the official site:

Since the beginning of time, RPGs have taken themselves far too seriously. They’re plagued by recycled stories, stock characters and a clichéd pseudo-medieval fantasy setting.

It’s time for someone to make fun of these games. BIG TIME. That’s where “Mark Leung: Revenge of the Bitch” comes in: it’s a fully playable parody RPG. Think of it as an RPG gone wrong.

Inspired by Christianity, double rainbows, Kim Jong Il, flaming trolls and Final Fantasy, “Revenge of the Bitch” features characters and monsters that are bizarre hybrids of public figures and well-known characters. There’s Jhompson, a summonable character inspired by Jack Thompson and Illidan Stormrage, and McFunny, a boss character inspired by the Joker and Ronald McDonald. Recent events such as the subprime mortgage crisis also inspired a bank-themed dungeon and a cleric named Brother Lehman.

Development

The idea for “Revenge of the Bitch” came soon after College Saga, Mark Leung’s satirical video series. The Uglysoft team was formed with the help of the Polytechnic University of Hong Kong’s School of Design. After several months of experimenting with game engines, the game’s production team decided on Torque Game Engine Advanced. Production started in 2009. Originally, “Mark Leung” was conceived as a full game, but as the game story expanded, it was soon turned into an episodic series, with each episode carrying its own theme and sub-plot.

Sequels

The second episode, “The Communist Manifesto,” is now in conceptualization stage. Production is on track to starting in 2011. The plot will focus upon the two main religion’s petty rivalry and Mark’s latent Communist powers. New classes include Enchanter and Communist.

Audio

The game’s soundtrack is scored by Leonard To and Matthew Myers. Background music for live action cinematics mostly uses stock music. Sound effects are arranged by various members of the production team. Mark Leung voiced many creatures that do not resemble common animals, such as the Bitchkraken and Goldman Sex, as well as some birds in the background. He also arranged all of the ambient tracks.

The Uglysoft team has dedicated two and a half years of hard work into producing what they hope is the strangest game ever. Give it a try. It should be a happy mindf*ck.

– Mark Leung

If you play current gen mobile games you should have tried angry birds or at least heard of it. The game is immense and is now serving over a million of mobile users across several platforms such as the iOS as well as the Android. It is an amazingly simple yet addictive game where it tells the story of the battle between the pigs and birds. Apparently these pigs stole the eggs of the birds and they are pissed off, thus they fight them trying to get back the eggs. This popular game has resulted in several reactions from plush toys, pillow cases, artworks and even birthday cakes. Now we have a live action short skit of a peace treaty between the birds and the pigs. Read on for the video.

Beatboxing is a form of vocal percussion which primarily involves the art of producing drum beats, rhythm, and musical sounds using one’s mouth, lips, tongue and voice. It may also involve singing, vocal imitation of turntablism, the simulation of horns, strings, and other musical instruments. The wonders of what the human mouth can do. Here is one really talented Japanese beatboxer who can reproduce sounds of many many things especially those sound effects and tunes you hear from the gaming industry! Read on to hear his fantastic mouth at work.Awesome isn’t it? SHORYUKEN!!! Here is another wonderful performance by him (from mario):

If you’ve played First-Person Shooter (FPS) games online you will definitely know what an aimbot is. Yes, those bloody aimbotters who simply miraculously perform headshots every single time within the blink of the eye. An aimbot is basically a type of game bot or rather program/hack that helps the user to aim according to settings. I first came into contact with such cheaters in the popular FPS Counter Strike. It is widely used then by cheaters but since the introduction of anti-hack measures it died down by quite a bit. It is awesome and extremely dangerous at the same time should there be such a function in real life. Hit the jump for the real life demonstration of how an aimbotter rolls.

The graphical effects, sound effects are all neatly done. Can’t believe that it is only until now that I chance upon such a brilliant video. Boom! Headshot. And if you’re wondering how the guy knew that the enemy was behind the wall, it was probably due to the ability of a wallhack. Yup, it lets you see enemies through any wall terrain etc. It is obvious that a player is a cheat when you see him shoot through the wall throughout the game and get the kills. Combine that with aimbotting and you get one unstoppable cheater. Apparently the producer of this video created some other sleek videos as well and of course one that showcases some rather professional video editing skills. Take a look at his other video:

Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Music and gaming are a perfect match for each other. I mean you do know of some of the nicest sound tracks coming from certain games and so on. Recently there has been the trend for some of the major first person shooters to engage with some of the biggest music sensation of the current day and age. For example Activision engaged rapping sensation Eminem to help out with a trailer they had for Modern Warfare 2 and upcoming Call of Duty Black Ops. Electronic Arts jumped onto the musical bandwagon and also engaged one of the more popular bands Linkin Park to help out with the promotion of their upcoming game Medal of Honor. The trailers after the jump.

The main video trailer of this post would be titled “The Catalyst”. It is an all-new Medal of Honor gameplay/live action trailer directed by Linkin Park’s Joe Hahn. This trailer features never-before-seen in-game footage set to the band’s first single ‘The Catalyst’ from their soon to be released album, A Thousand Suns. I can’t really connect with the song although I do love the band. In any case the video itself is awesome.

For the first time in its 11-year history, Medal of Honor leaves the WWII theatre and enters the modern setting of war-torn Afghanistan. The game is told through the lens of a small band of fictional characters. Medal of Honor introduces players to the Tier 1 Operator, an elite warrior and relatively unknown instrument of the U.S. Military that operates under the National Command Authority to take on missions no one else can handle.

Other trailers mainly for CoD Black Ops and record breaking Modern Warfare 2 were done together with rapping legend Eminem:

It is really cool how these gaming companies engage music artists to help out with their trailers. I mean it do make it more exciting should the music be extremely catchy and better still relevant to the gameplay and action. I would love to see more of such collaborations in future, it benefits not only them in their promotions but the end users us with entertaining video and magnificent music.
