The First Battle of 2008 is Finally Over

Every year of my life, there are four battles: 2 huge and major ones, 2 small and insignificant battles. Nevertheless, neglecting the small battles will still affect me and my plans to succeed in the major ones that lie ahead. Therefore, I can officially scream out of joy and happiness that the first mini battle has finally been won and over. In this first quarter of the year, I am flooded with both extra curriculum activities as well as my academic pursuits. Trying to balance both is definitely no child’s play as I have an extra disturbance among the balance, gaming. Balancing among 3 aspects and trying to archive most out of everything wears me out. However I am glad to say that I did manage to play the video games I want to play, get the results I wanted to score and endure through the parades and practices my uniform group put me up to.

BoxWave PSP Accessories Review

BoxWave PSP Accessories Review Header

Around three weeks back, I made a post informing you readers that some PSP accessories are on their way to my house for reviewing. And they did come a week after I made that post. The review however was delayed due to the fact that my PSP was under servicing (its spoilt). Still, I am glad that the servicing was done a few days back and that now I have the time to do a proper review on the accessories I received.

All of the different products that are going to be reviewed

I ordered/requested, for 5 different products, 4 of which are specially made for the PSP and one for general use. To be honest with you people, out of all 5 of them, I am only satisfied with 2. This review will tell you why I dislike the rest, and why I like the others.

Used vs New vs Pirated

New vs Old vs Pirated

I have always wondered about the differences between buying second hand games and buying it completely new and sealed. Of course buying second hand games would mean saving more money. This applies greatly on console games. After finishing a game, selling it would mean an additional sum of money in my pockets to prepare for purchase of the latest games. Also, buying second hand games would mean more games but lesser money. However, it is known that by buying second hand games, it would mean that the game developers are not going to earn additional money from you. Good or bad? In my opinion it is great for not only the consumer but the producer as well.

Now comes the third category which most probably does not apply to current generation consoles (yet). That is pirating games. Easily downloadable off the net or bought from street tenders, pirated games are always hot among gamers. However, for current generation games (PS3 and Xbox 360), piracy have yet spread to it.

Incoming BoxWave Products

BoxWave.com is a site that sells accessories mainly for mobile devices and even portable gaming consoles. From protective screens to add-ons for the PSP (Playstation Portable) it is a must for people who want to maximize their experience with their different gadgets. The products sold are not too pricey, average in my opinion. Quality etc is yet to be known as I have yet to receive the products I have been offered. Yes that is right, I am about to give a review on their different products that interests me. (They are sending it to me for free. How sweet. My second so far, first goes to the PQ Talking Software, free commercial product review.) These are the products that actually interests me the most (I have none of the phones that is compatible with their accessories. However I do have a PSP and thus all products that I chose are for the PSP):

Report and Reflections: January 08

January 08I would first like to open the end of month report for the month of January 08 with apologies for being inconsistent in producing such reports in year 2007. I admit that I was lazy and thus not wanting to go through so much hassle just to come out with reports that most people do not care at all. I am neither a professional blogger earning tons of money, nor a blog celebrity that people care what I think but nevertheless, I think such reports are musts. Whether people read it or not, taking time to reflect and think about what I did recently is really important for not only improving oneself but also to remind oneself not to repeat mistakes that had been made. Thus, with much thinking and planning, I decided that from this year onwards, every month, without fail, will have such a report.

Am I Smart Enough?

Today was a day that stretched my mental and intelligence limit. It was a day whereby the creams of the crops come to compete to become the cream of the cream. For those who are successful, they get a huge reward. And that is allowing their school fees to be completely waived for the rest of their secondary and junior college life. Today was the scholarship test for integrated programme students. It was an experience I felt around 6 years back when I took this test to see if I qualified for a higher form of education (GEP, Gifted Education Programme is what we call in Singapore) and I failed terribly. Now here I am back again taking a similar kind of test hoping for the best so as to save money on school fees. The experience was actually not too bad, just stressful.

Bali for the Week

I spent a week ago in Bali thus resulting in why I did not update the blog for so long. The trip started at 11th of January and ended just yesterday, 18th of January. I went there not for the purpose to relax and have fun, but instead for studying and educational purposes (well, that is what my school calls it to be). OEP, Overseas Educational Programme, sure sounds awesome eh? So this post is dedicated to that whole week in bali and is definitely extraordinarily boring. Be advised if you think that there might be pictures you are totally wrong (I know holidays equals to loads of photo taking etc but I am exceptional).

Bali is practically associated with holiday paradise, or somewhere whereby people have fun in the beaches etc. So how can it be educational at all? Well, to be really honest, I doubt I really learnt anything else besides the characteristics and personalities of my friends. During the trip, we visited turtle conversation centre (where we learn turtle knowledge), mangrove swarm (learn about the different plants) etc. Knowledge and education is fed to us but I doubt any of us care about it anyways. There are however two main lessons, points or whatever you call them from this trip.
