Fake DualShock 3 Controller Review (Ebay, AliExpress)

In my search for cheap third party Playstation 3 controllers, I’ve decided to give the infamous Made In China fake DualShock 3 controllers a try. I’ve purchased two “different” fake controllers from an AliExpress supplier. They are differentiated by their packaging colour; one being red and the other being blue. According to the supplier, the controllers are made by different companies and the blue packaging controller is newer and of higher quality. With all that said, how do these fake controllers perform?

Gioteck VX-1 PS3 Controller Review

Controllers suffer from wear and tear. Gaming long with one will definitely damage the grips and wear down the controller entirely. My Playstation 3 (PS3) Dualshock3 (DS3) controller of around 3 years had recently decided to go senile. Using the analog sticks will randomly trigger the D-Pad, causing me to rage a lot. It is time to get another controller. I looked up my local store price lists and bam, $50 for a brand new DS3 controller. I was feeling cheap and did not want to spend that kind of money. Heaven then sent me a message, a store had recently brought in (or at least I just noticed them bringing in) a third-party manufacturer controller that was half the price of an original PS3 controller. The controller is called the VX-1 by a company called Gioteck.

How-To Record 1080p HDMI Footage (PS3 and Other Devices)

This guide’s main purpose is to introduce a device that will aid in recording HDMI output from whichever sources you have. This is particularly helpful for recording 1080p footage from say the Playstation 3 (PS3). The “only” way to record PS3 footage is through component cables and while that provides pretty good 1080i quality, it is not exactly the full 1080p that we want. There are also many other reasons why HDMI is preferred over component (from the recorder’s point of view); in my case, my PC monitors do not support component input and thus requiring converters to get the output displayed. There are several different types of devices that will help you but here is one of the most readily available one out there.

Hauppauge Colossus: How To Record PS3 Footage

I have already written a guide covering the topic on using the Colossus to record your PC footage. It is fairly straightforward but there are still some things that you will have to take note of. Again if you don’t like reading, I’ve made a video that show you the different steps to get your recording up and running. Read on for the written and video guide. Continue reading

PC Alpha Protocol Review

Alpha Protocol Cover

Alpha Protocol, a game that was hyped up by many and after it’s released disappointed many. I myself actually did not hear much of the game or rather, was unaware of it (not sure if it is good or bad). From some researching it seems as the situation is that the game is under development for quite some years, around the year 2006 or so. Long development means better game? Perhaps, perhaps. Anyways, back to the review. This review is based on experience playing through the PC version. Do note that the game is out for the X360 and the PS3 as well. Without further ado, let us move on to the review. Continue reading

LittleBigPlanet 2 Trailer

LittleBigPlanet 2 is coming! I was totally hyped up back then when the first LBP was announced. I mean yeah now that I’ve gotten the game and actually played it, it was all good and fun but not really extraordinarily great. I think the problem lies within the lack of friends/family members who would play with me. I mean LBP is totally a multi-player party styled kind of game. Playing alone can be fun but it is nothing compared to playing with another 3 other people. Anyways, LBP 2 is coming out soon exclusively for the PlayStation 3 this year and it promises to do so much more.

Read on to watch the trailer and an interview as well. Continue reading

Fifa 09 Ultimate Team DLC Review

Fifa 09 Ultimate Team Pack ShotI’ve just recently found out about the new Downloadable Content (DLC) for Fifa 09, the Ultimate Team mode, through my brother. Haven’t been in touch with gaming news and stuff because of the tremendous amount of school work I’ve gotten. Anyways, after purchasing it, a price tage of around $14 SGD I believe, I finally found the time to try it out. The Ultimate Team mode was most probably inspired and based around Fifa Online 2 (FO2: the free alternative of Online Gameplay for Fifa). The whole game basically revolves around the normal matches and cards. Yes, cards determine whether your players are improving, whether they will improve and of course how great your Team will be. Almost everything is based on cards, which is something new I would say (besides the concept appearing in FO2).
