Introduction

EA Sports Rugby is back once more, giving all rugby fans out there a treat. However, I did not play the previous version so in this review I will not comment on how much improvement 08 actually has. Rugby 08 definitely gives players the feel of being at the rugby pitch and playing as one of their favorite team. Rugby 08 is the most popular rugby game currently (There is only one to two more other rugby games if I remembered correctly). Available in both the PC and PS2, it is a must for all rugby fans with consoles or computers to have it.

SketchCast

In the past we have things such as podcasts and screencasts. Now we have a new one, a new way of communicating and spreading of your own ideas etc, and that is by sketch casting. Sketch casting is a method whereby users sketch or what we call draw out what they want to tell and in addition, add on a voice over if needed. Kind of cool for artists and drawing enthusiast. However, if you lack the proper equipment and tools (Such as a tablet or some drawing equipment for your computer) the result might become rather terrible. Anyone fancy a Ping.sg T-shirt?
The one which we will wear proudly proclaiming ourselves as a proud member of this community? The one we would be wearing together when we attend any event as a Ping.sg group?This idea has been surfaced and not taken off a few times since the launch of Ping.sg 1 year ago. One of the main reasons are due to lack of good T-shirt designs that I managed to find.

This time, let’s get it done!

Instead of myself scouting for private designers on my own, which may not even know exactly what Ping.sg about, why don’t we do it the community way this time. Ping.sg do have quite a few of good designers among us, aren’t we?
I say, let’s start a Ping.sg T-shirt Design contest!
The winning entry will be getting SGD 100 from Ping.sg. It’s not a lot, but it is some money I can offer that I have made from Ping.sg (through advertising) minus the costly Singapore hosting fees. Most importantly, you will gain the recognition and respect among Ping.sg’s community as the official Ping.sg T-Shirt designer, and you can be proud seeing your design worn by local bloggers.

Some requirements:
1. It is a Ping.sg t-shirt, so, yeah the t-shirt has to have Ping.sg’s logo.
2. Ping.sg’s URL - http://ping.sg. We don’t want ourselves to be mistaken for promoting for a golf equipment company.
3. Nothing else. Feel free to be creative.

MigoCity

Introduction

MigoCity is a place whereby you can meet people all over the world and make friends with them! You can experience fun and excitement through playing the games in the game and exploring the different areas. In conclusion, MigoCity is something like MSN, IRC but just that you have an avatar to yourself. The closest game that is similar is Second Life or Habbo. If you know them, MigoCity is something like those. You can walk around the different areas with your avatar and play games. Fun? Not quite yet as it is still in beta and many features do not work. All in all, it is a game whereby you can make new friends and have fun!

Cartoonize Your Personal Photos

With MSN Cartoon Beta, you can now convert your personal pictures into cartoons! Amazing but true. However, I found that the cartoon produced look least like to the real photo. Oh well, still beta. You can choose different hairstyles, accessories (Glasses for now) to put on your cartoon character. And before completing, you can also select one of the many different emotions. For example if you want your cartoon to look angry, you select the angry icon and his whole face turns red with rage.

What made me “wow” is the ability to detect the eyes, nose and mouth. Yes that is right! MSN Cartoon is able to detect where your eyes, mouth and nose is on your personal picture. And from that, they will draw out your cartoon picture! Amazing is it? Read more to see a live demonstration of the application in process as well as the address to it!

The Hype

Seeing the fascinating screen previews of Fifa 08, watching trailers on Fifa 08’s gameplay and reading and hearing interviews, articles etc on how great Fifa 08 is. Indeed I must say, I am really impressed with the text I read and the visual trailers I watch. It got me really hyped up and made me want to have more, whether is it pictures or trailers, I want them all. However, when the long awaited demo came out recently, my hype went down and I was not impressed but depress. It was disgusting (A strong word but it describes the demo really well)

Expecting too much?

The gameplay neither met my expectations nor improved from the previous version (Fifa 07). The graphics were terrible and gameplay the same, if not worst. Of course you people will say that it is just a demo, things will be different when the real thing comes out. But in this real world, first impressions always matters. People still judge the book by its cover. What can I say? I’m glad that at least EA came out with a FIFA 07 replica demo to try impress or let us say to win over Konami’s fans? For heaven’s sake the demo made me want to play Konami’s Pro Evolution Soccer even more.
