I’ve heard of MyBlogLog and blogcatalog before but never really had the motivation to sign up for either one of them. Webmasters and bloggers alike all recommend them for they bring people of similar interest together and so on. This thus results in making friends as well as having an increase of traffic. I don’t really know if they are similar to that of BloggerUnited but they all have that widget bar thingy to show you users that have just visited the site etc. BloggerUnited is a rather new startup, currently in beta I believe. This means that features are still not fully confirmed and are constantly added. BloggerUnited (BU for short) is something like facebook and mybloglog combined. It focuses mainly on the social side and brings bloggers together. Like its name, BU unites bloggers. It allows you to comment on people, add friends, see who (registered on the site) recently visited your blog, post updates such as status, video and website links etc (like on facebook) etc. It allows you to have the latest posts from your blog to appear on your profile page, twitter and plurk status updates etc.
There is this point system implemented in the site which is kind of unique. Points are earned through people visiting your profile links, posting stuff I think and the list goes on (not too sure on this). What I do know for sure is that the blogger with the highest point earned for the month would have him/her featured on the site’s front page. There are also awards for popular blog, article, blogger and hospitality (?). If there are any features left out in this short write-up maybe you can go visit the site and test their service personally. In my honest opinion the site’s design is simple and the way it approaches its niche of social networking for bloggers is rather newbie friendly and definitely for the smaller bloggers like you and me. Of course professional bloggers are welcome to join the community as well. For with all kinds of bloggers joining BU, we shall then be able to unite as one!
I decided to do a screencast to show the site a little. I might have left out features etc but it is just a short preview/clip to show you the site.
